The
Annual Rotary Christmas Parade presented by the Allen Sunrise and Noon Rotary
Clubs honored the
Allen Public Library as Grand Marshal for
its 40 years of dedicated service to the our community.
In
honor of the Library’s 40th Anniversary, some of the founding members
led the various organizations that are a part of our Library’s rich
heritage including the Library Staff and Board of Directors, Friends of the
Library, Junior Friends, Teen Advisory Board, Teen Volunteers, and the recently
formed Endowment Fund Board.
This
year’s theme was “Storybook Lane” and all parade participants created entries based on their favorite storybook tales and characters.
Fortunately for the Friends, the theme goes hand-in-hand with the ALLen Reads
program where our entire community is encouraged to read Marley & Me by
John Grogan. Friends walking in the parade handed out stickers
promoting ALLen reads as well as celebrating the Library with fun and unique
decorations.
The
parade was held on Sunday, December 2nd. Check
out the Rotary’s website to view more photos –
